In Luxembourg, magazine makers, art directors, photographers, illustrators, journalists, brand managers, students and a larger public will come together for a three-day-event.

The objective is for many of the most intriguing personalities in the worldwide magazine culture to interact with interested audiences and players from a multitude of fields and to exchange ideas, experiences, and view examples of some of the best and brightest offerings.

An exhibition will present exciting artwork from ten worldwide leading magazines.Two more exhibitions will present a selection of significant magazines that no longer exist, and a special room dedicated to underground magazines.

Over a period of three days there will be approx. 20 hours of talks. Each day will have international lectures, panel discussions with leading experts as well as portfolio shows. Among the speakers: Samir "Mr Magazine" Husni, Horst Moser, Jeremy Leslie, Andrew Losowsky and Boz Temple-Morris.

The Portfolio Shows is a series of live presentations of artwork in the fields of photography, illustration and graphic design. Each one hour session allows 10 talents to show samples of their work on a projected screen for a period of 5 minutes. Each session will focus on either illustration, photography or graphic design, either by professionals or by students, and offers a chance for the artists to speak about their work if they wish. The audience will be given an index with the contacts of the 10 artists. An excellent networking forum for artists and a great opportunity for the right audience to view a wide variety of artwork in a fast paced and entertaining format.

The “Room with a View” is an ephemeral magazine store and library set up in the stunning “aquarium” of the Casino Luxembourg - forum d'art contemporain overlooking the Petrusse Valley. Magazines can be bought, borrowed, browsed through or given away for free. Approx. 200 magazines are participating in this initiative. Everybody loves tasty coffee and fresh sandwiches, so we added some. Relax with a good magazine (or two) and a snack, while listening to the music playlists of thirty guest magazines

A book called "We love Magazines"

Designed by Jeremy Leslie and edited by Andrew Losowsky, the book is being specially created for the symposium. With groundbreaking visuals and contributions from around the world, it will include in- depth features about all aspects of magazine creation, a worldwide magazine directory and an international guide to distribution.

World's leading online directory

Over 1,000 magazine titles are already registered in "world's leading online directory" of pop culture magazines. The database is free accessible and publish detailled factsheets, magazine covers, interviews, etc. Magazines can still register online: www.colophon2007.com.

The symposium is produced by Mike Koedinger, Luxembourg's leading independent publisher in collaboration with the Casino Luxembourg - forum d'art contemporain. It is curated by Jeremy Leslie and Mike Koedinger and is labelled Luxembourg and Greater Region, European Capital of Culture 2007», placed under the High Patronage of their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg.
