INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE SYMPOSIUM 09 - 11.03.2007 LUXEMBOURG
Newsletter 03
03.02.2006
375 days before the "Colophon 2007" event and we have indexed 578 issues of magazines from 45 countries. All throughout 2006, we will continue to seek out and index international (independent) pop/culture/style magazines and thus continue to enrich our freely accessible on-line database. A selection of a few hundred magazines will then be included in the book Colophon 2007 which will appear in March 2007 at the time of the symposium in Luxembourg .
Edited by Andrew Losowsky, the book will be 400 pages long including in-depth features and groundbreaking stories, a worldwide magazine directory, and an international guide to distribution.
Concerning the event itself, curated by Jeremy Leslie and Mike Koedinger, the programme of exhibitions, conferences, and round tables is advancing well. The main exhibition will present exciting artwork from ten leading magazines worldwide. Two more exhibitions will present a selection of significant magazines - now extinct - and a special room will be dedicated to underground magazines. The first guests are confirmed, other discussions are in progress. The program will be rich and the opportunities for encounters between magazine producers, creatives, brand managers, students, and readers will be numerous.
Colophon 2007 is now part of the official programme of "Luxembourg and Greater Region: European Capital of Culture 2007". Barcelona based CMYK, 1 st magazine culture festival will be our special guest.
Starting in spring 2006, inscriptions will be open to professionals. From then until the event, please continue to suggest magazines to us for integration in our index and feel free to recommend this newsletter to your acquaintances and colleagues.
The next newsletter will appear in April, from now until then enjoy reading the interviews we have conducted with the following fourteen magazines:
